LTAF 120 - LITERATURE AND FILM OF MODERN AFRICA
Twentieth-Century Postcolonial Literatures
Proposed Instructor: Marina Vlahaki
This course will examine how African novels and films grapple with the idea of finding a home in the world. Monsters, Ghosts and Bodies as Figures of Detection

Study of the relationship between the representation of death in contemporary Mexican literature and film and the social changes associated to neoliberalism in the region.

LTCS 102 - PRACTICING CULTURAL STUDIES
Experiencing and Imagining Global Cities: A Cultural Voyage to the Unknown “Playgrounds” of Urban Spaces
Proposed Instructor: Xiaojiao Wang
This course will provide an opportunity for students to delve deeper into the cultural texture of urban spaces and to enliven their imagination and quotidian experiences of global cities from Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong to Paris, Los Angeles, and other metropolises.
LTEA 120A - CHINESE FILMS
Chinese-language Documentaries
Proposed Instructor: Yanqin Tan
This course surveys Chinese-language documentary practices in mainland China and Taiwan since late 1980s. Situated in documentary studies and East Asian studies, it approaches documentaries at both textual and contextual levels, exploring the intricate relationship among aesthetics, politics and ethics.

LTEN 178 - COMPARATIVE ETHNIC LITERATURE (d)
Environmental Crises, Race, and US Literature
Proposed Instructor: Sang Eun Lee
This course explores how particularly vulnerable populations and communities use literary imagination to fight against environmental crises in the US. The course will engage with various types of texts from poetry, short stories and speculative fiction to visual media.

Asian American Womens' Writing
Instructor: Erin Suzuki
This course will focus on Asian American women’s writing in English, from Sui Sin Far to Ali Wong. In addition to primary source texts, the course will engage Asian American feminist and gender studies criticism.

LTWL 106 - CLASSICAL TRADITION
Greek Mythology in Cyber Space
Instructor: Jacobo Myerston
This class is an introduction to the spatial dimension of Greek mythology. In it, we will not only read texts but also analyze ritual and mythical space with the help of a virtual reality software that allows the visualization of the sanctuaries of ancient Greece.
