Ignacio Carvajal (he/they) is a scholar, poet and translator who serves as Assistant Professor in the Literature Department and as affiliated faculty in Latin American Studies and Chicanx/Latinx Studies at UCSD. Their research interests include Indigenous responses to colonialism and evangelization during the early colonial period; pedagogical approaches to Indigenous language learning (especially K’iche’); Central American literatures and cultures; poetry; and translation.
