Hyejin Cho has a passion for teaching Korean to foreigners, building her academic background and teaching experience in the field. She studied linguistics at Korea University, where she earned her master’s degree with an emphasis in “Korean language education as a foreign language” and completed her doctoral coursework. Her master’s thesis focused on authentic listening education, driven by her enthusiasm for authentic teaching materials. During her doctoral studies, she conducted research on the authentic usage patterns of grammatical elements in the Korean language.

As an educator, Hyejin has taught Korean language learners from diverse backgrounds. She taught students from around the world at Myongji University in Korea for six years, covering levels from beginner to advanced. Additionally, she served as an Korean language instructor for four years in the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program, gaining experience specifically with American students.

She also has extensive teaching experience with learners of Korean as a foreign language in the US. Since 2018, she has been teaching in the Korean Language Program at the University of California, San Diego. Moreover, she taught for the Linguist Army Reserve Training Program for three years, working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds and proficiency.

Passionate about becoming a qualified foreign language teacher, she has obtained multiple certifications. She holds the National Certificate for Korean Language as a Foreign Language Teacher Level 2 issued by the Korean government. Additionally, as part of her dedication to foreign language education, she earned two Teaching English as a Second Language Certificates—one from the University of Hawaii at Hilo while studying linguistics, and another from the Extension at the University of California, San Diego, completing the Teaching English as a Foreign Language Professional Certificate program.
