Assistant Professor
Professor Carol Arcos is an assistant professor in the Department of Literature. Before joining UCSD, she was an assistant professor at the Center of Latin American Cultural Studies (CECLA) of the University of Chile. She specializes in cultural studies, anti-colonial feminisms, and cuir/queer studies in Latin America.
Professor Arcos is the author of several research articles and book chapters published in the US, Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Spain. She has also coordinated collective volumes such as the first contemporary history of Chilean literature. She is currently working on a book that compiles her decade-long research on social reproduction, motherhood, and labor of care from a biopolitical and transfeminist perspective. In addition, she has published a book of poetry in Spain, Opacal (2019), and other poetic collaborations in national and international journals.
