Using AirPlay with an AppleTV in Literature Seminar Rooms

Step 1: What you need

To use AirPlay, you need one of these:

iPhone 4 (or later), iPad, iPad mini, or iPod touch (4th generation or later)

Step 2: Checkout Remote Pouch from Undergraduate Office

Please checkout from the Undergraduate office (Literature Building Room 110) the power key and remote pouch for the Seminar room you will be teaching in.

Step 2: Turn on the A/V Power

Attached to the remote pouch is a power key. Use this key to turn on the Audio Visual Power in the Seminar room.

Step 3: Turn on the Television and the AppleTV

Using the Television remote, turn on the Television and set the "Input for HDMI-2. Using the Apple Remote** turn on the AppleTV by pressing the Menu or Play Button. From the Main Menu you can select one of several applications by pressing the Up/Down/Sideways button on the Apple Remote. Please note: If you "Login" to Netflix, HuluPlus or any other application, be sure to LOGOUT before you leave the seminar room.

**Please note: The AppleTV is behind the Television. In order to use the Apple Remote you may need to point the remote directly at the AppleTV.

Step 4: Connect your device to the Internet

Connect your iOS device to the UCSD-PROTECTED wireless network

Step 5: Start using AirPlay

Using your iOS device, swipe from the bottom of your screen to access the Control Center. Tap AirPlay. Then, tap the name of the device you want to AirPlay to. Please note: Literature AppleTVs are named to include "lit", the seminar room and
appletv" (for example: lit_355appletv)
